“These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence. I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins. My freedom lives in these pages, and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness,” says Fox.
I had noticed that Megan Fox and her attention-whore boyfriend, Machine Gun Kelly, had been showing up a lot in the paparazzi in November. As it turned out she had put out a book of poems called PRETTY BOYS ARE POISONOUS. The word was that it dives into the horrors of her previous relationships with pretty boys and their toxicity. Years ago after Megan divorced the BAG-man, she wasn't exactly shy about griping about what their marriage was like, but it just sounded like she was whining. I was expecting to read 174 pages of her whining some more, but maybe it might rhyme.
What I wasn't expecting was the amount of physical and mental violence portrayed in the book. It was actually quite disturbing at times and had me wondering, if these things were going on, why would she stay? Why wouldn't she call the cops? So the questions are, did she write this based on actual experiences? Did she really suffer these horrors? Or... Is this a work of pure fiction, but meant to draw attention to the topic?
Based on the serious nature of the book and how well it was written I would say it's good. How seriously am I taking this? I am not sure. She does make at least ONE direct reference to that weirdo she's been with for a while. So could this be a cry for help? I suppose we can wait for the news when shit goes sideways there...
