Review Tuesday: Alien Carpathia 2022

The space tug Carpathia encounters the ALIEN.

With the latest ALIEN movie hitting theaters last weekend I noticed that Youtube has been popping up some fan films into my feed. I watched some of them so I will spend a little time discussing them. First up, ALIEN CARPATHIA by Dave Jones. 

 

So, as a fan film, you get the impression that Dave Jones wanted to be accurate to the source material. In that vein, it's pretty much the same story as ALIEN. It takes place between ALIEN and ALIENS. The CARPATHIA is traveling when it suffers a power issue. Luckily, along their way they stumble across a derelict ship similar to theirs that they can scavenge parts from. Of course, while doing so they bring aboard a facehugger egg. The ALIEN does his thing, the android becomes treacherous, and everyone dies one by one. 

 

Okay, I have to hand it to creators. Making a full length animated movie, 1.25 hours, is quite a task. This one looks like the cut scenes from some video game. It moved slow, the voice acting was droning, the story was pretty unoriginal and an awful ending. I watched it while working on other things, so I was able to survive the dull one and a quarter hour play time. Otherwise I would've hated myself for wasting time with this.
