My Dearest Papa
A Carmilla & Laura Short Story
by SD Simper
Laura returns home years after becoming a vampire.
After I had finished reading CARMILLA & LAURA by SD Simper, she gave those who were in on her Kickstarter the short story MY DEAREST PAPA.
In CARMILLA & LAURA the author uses a time bounce device bridging the gap between modern times and when the original story actually took place. SPOILER ALERT: Carmilla and Laura are still together today. But that's not what this story is about. When doing those sorts of time bounces it frequently leaves the reader wondering what might have gone during the years in between. This short story fills in the blanks from the point of Laura's turning to vampirism through some five years later, at her father's deathbed from natural causes.
It is a love letter to her father, as well as discussing how profoundly her life had been altered when she became a vampire.
It's charming and quick to read. I liked it very much as it sews in perfectly with the main book. At this point, you can only get this on Simper's Patreon:
