The first solo record from Gwen Stefani came out. She chose a great time for solo work, as every young girl wants to be Gwen, every gay man wants to do her hair, and every straight guy wants to toss her salad.
That said, let's have a look at the record.
One guaranteed winner: Gwen's voice. She is incapable of singing a bad note. She has an amazing voice.
Couple her voice with any song and it will be okay minimally. Unfortunately with all the collaberations on this record, most of the songs seem uninspired and are only okay. The first single is pretty good, but not great. The next single, Rich Girl with Eve is good, but that's all.
In general I'd call this a very pleasant album to listen to. It certainly won't be classified as my favorite cd and this is certainly not Gwen's best work. But if you like what you hear on the radio, you'll get plenty more of the same on the cd.
And can someone tell me how she's actually gotten hotter with age? Damn!
