Some people just love some bad films. Some bad films have some cult followings. So I fell for it. I rented EVIL DEAD last weekend. This is the movie that brought Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell to fame. After seeing this I can't understand how they weren't run out of the business after this.
Okay. This is a typical horror movie. PLOT: a group of teens stumble upon something evil that eventually kills them all but one. These movies are only slightly better executed these days, but EVIL DEAD being from 1982 is pretty crude. Everything is mediocre at best, and at points it's just bad. When it was over I just slapped my side and scratched my head. I have no idea what people are raving about.
I DO plan on watching it one more time before I return it, but I hardly expect to like it any better. I also plan on watching EVIL DEAD 2 and ARMY OF DARKNESS and I hope at least one of these is almost halfway decent.
