4th of July Weekend: Gettysburg / Hershey's Factory

My wife did a lot of research and purposely chose a fairly central city in Western Pennsylvania. On Saturday she wanted to go to Gettysburg the Hershey's chocolate factory in Hershey, PA. Her brother and I really weren't into either, but with a lack of other possible activity in mind, we went for it.

It was a fairly quick trip from the hotel. Gettysburg has about a dozen exits that lead to the battlefield. We ended up in town and about 10 minutes from one of the legs of the re-enactment. We pull into this huge lot and park. We walk to the entrance. There's a $25 per person fee to get in. The kicker is that, you can't even get too close to the action. You're only a couple feet closer than those who didn't bother to pay. For $75 we decided to leave.

We went back to the hotel and got directions to Hershey. That was also pretty quick and easy to get to. If you park for 2 hours or less it's free. It's free to get into factory. The amusement park was on the same grounds, but we weren't in the mood for rides. We went in for the factory tour, had lunch, and were still out of there in less than two hours. There's nothing there, really, but a huge candy store.

Two stops in one day, both were busts.
