I actually have progress to report!
I wasn't sure that I'd have anything, but things worked out better for me than I expected. I was up early this morning to head out for a meeting with my brother. I was running ahead of schedule so I busted out that can of "Hot Rod Black Primer." I ran two light coats and I liked the way it looked already. My fears arising from the grind marks evaporated! At this point it was looking very good for my deadline.
