Thought I would share a fact from a book. ..
I put this in here cause I think you're all are smart enough to understand it. The rule of thumb is 10 gallon per inch. But did you know that is calculatated for tank size not the amount of water.most people only fill there tanks 1/3 to 1/2 full of water so for a 5 inch turtle you need a 50 gallon tank with only 25 gallons of water. Now with that said i will give you a quoat from a book by Philippe de Vosjolihe is a well known herpetoculturtist the president of the American fedaration of herpotculturists. All kinds of awards.
(For 1 typical Red eared slider use at least a 30 gallon long aquarium. If you are keeping 2 or more figure at least 10 gallons of water more for each additional turtle.)
Now remember this is just for your info and we dont need to post it on the board it would be confusing to most it just lets you see that you can safely keep several turtles in one tank.

Interesting and good info. I was told and read that at least a twenty gallon tank is good for my eastern painted turtle (about five or six inches long). I usually fill her tank until the water is about seven inches deep and the basking platform rests/floats on the water's surface (also serving as a hiding spot). Ideally I'd like to invest in something larger but for now the turtle seems to fare pretty well in there, swimming around actively (more so in warmer months)and looking and acting healthy in general.
