On CD: LIBERTAD by VELVET REVOLVER

When I heard that Velvet Revolver was working on this record, I believe my words were, "Get ready for another 'son of G&R' record." I have been under the impression that these guys were so stuck in their previous life as former members of Guns & Roses that there was no way that Scott Weiland would be able to do anything musically different or interesting with them.

I was SO wrong!

Nothing strikes me as a typical GNR, STP, Scott, Slash, Cult, etc, etc record. It's some blend, yet sounds like something altogether new and wonderful to me. Let it also be known, I never liked Guns and Roses in the first place, so there was no warm place in my heart for these guys. No sugar coating from your humble narrator!

Here's the track list:
1. Let It Roll
2. She Mine
3. Get Out The Door
4. She Builds Quick Machines
5. The Last Fight
6. Pills, Demons & Etc.
7. American Man
8. Mary Mary
9. Just Sixteen
10. Can't Get It Out Of My Head
11. For A Brother
12. Spay
13. Gravedancer
14. Re-Evolution

I can break it down, but it's hardly necessary. I don't have to say, "skip this one, it's filler," (which is what people REALLY want to know about albums) because this record is all meat and NO filler! I consider myself blessed because I've been listening to some very ambitious recordings lately that were well done with integrity. No slop. No grizzle. If you were wondering if this record is worthy of your music dollars, I'd have to say YES! Go for it.
