The Hives on Cartoon Network
iTunes Singles Collection Out Now
The Black & White Album Available Everywhere November 13th
Courtesy of Sweden’s hardest working quintet in freshly pressed suit pants, “Fall Is Just Something Grownups Invented” is now firing from space satellites directly into your living room all fall via Cartoon Network. On its heels, the network will premiere the song’s video in November in conjunction with the worldwide drop of The Black & White Album on November 13th.
And if you think television is cool, the Hives have tucked in their ties and are spiraling down your computer wires, transmitting five brand new songs via iTunes, previewing tracks from their new album and offering up “Fall Is Just Something Grownups Invented” as a bonus.
You’re asking yourself, “How can five whole songs be called a preview?” That’s because there’s 14 new tracks in all, making The Black & White Album an extra-long playing opus featuring all the band’s signature fine-tuned frenzy. Take “Tick Tick Boom.” It’s an anthem for tense times, the Hives juggling riffs like hand grenades so we don’t have to. Or, maybe the finger-snapping cool of “Well All Right!” is more your thing, a glimpse into the Hives philosophy of a strict no-worry policy, punctuated by a “woo hoo!” that says it all. Listen to those cheers on “Try It Again.” It’s a motivational number and it’s got screaming girls. Damn you Hives.
Hey, take a look at Howlin’ Pelle on the cover of The Black & White Album. Is that a peace sign? Maybe it’s a victory sign? Hell, it might just the “v” in Hives. Whatever it is, we all win. The Hives: being the best band in the world so you don’t have to.

Concussion
A concussion occurs when the head hits or is hit by an object, or when the brain is jarred against the skull, with sufficient force to cause temporary loss of function in the higher centers of the brain. The injured person may remain conscious or lose consciousness briefly, and is disoriented for some minutes after the blow. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 300,000 people sustain mild to moderate sports-related brain injuries each year, most of them young men between 16 and 25.
While concussion usually resolves on its own without lasting effect, it can set the stage for a much more serious condition. "Second impact syndrome" occurs when a person with a concussion, even a very mild one, suffers a second blow before fully recovering from the first. The brain swelling and increased intracranial pressure that can result is potentially fatal. More than 20 such cases have been reported since the syndrome was first described in 1984.

It's a woman thing
A man and a woman were sitting beside each other in the first class section of an airplane. The woman sneezed, took out a tissue, gently wiped her nose, then visibly shuddered for ten to fifteen seconds. Thinking nothing of it, the man went back to his reading. A few minutes later, the woman sneezed again, took a tissue, wiped her nose, then shuddered violently once more. Assuming that the woman might have a cold, the man was still curious about the shuddering. A few more minutes passed when the woman sneezed yet again. As before, she took a tissue, wiped her nose, her body shaking even more than before.
Unable to restrain his curiosity, the man turned to the woman and said, "I couldn't help but notice that you've sneezed three times, wiped your nose, and then shuddered violently. Are you okay?"
"I am sorry if I disturbed you. I have a very rare medical condition; whenever I sneeze I have an orgasm."The man, more than a bit embarrassed, was still curious. "I have never heard of that condition before," he said. "Are you taking anything for it?"
The woman nodded. "Pepper".
A craigslist post and Wall Street response
What am I doing wrong?
Okay, I'm tired of beating around the bush. I'm a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl. I'm articulate and classy. I'm not from New York. I'm looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don't think I'm overreaching at all.
Are there any guys who make 500K or more on this board? Any wives? Could you send me some tips? I dated a business man who makes average around 200 - 250. But that's where I seem to hit a roadblock. 250,000 won't get me to central park west. I know a woman in my yoga class who was married to an investment banker and lives in Tribeca, and she's not as pretty as I am, nor is she a great genius. So what is she doing right? How do I get to her level?
Here are my questions specifically:
- Where do you single rich men hang out? Give me specifics- bars, restaurants, gyms
-What are you looking for in a mate? Be honest guys, you won't hurt my feelings
-Is there an age range I should be targeting (I'm 25)?
- Why are some of the women living lavish lifestyles on the upper east side so plain? I've seen really 'plain jane' boring types who have nothing to offer married to incredibly wealthy guys. I've seen drop dead gorgeous girls in singles bars in the east village. What's the story there?
- Jobs I should look out for? Everyone knows - lawyer, investment banker, doctor. How much do those guys really make? And where do they hang out?
Where do the hedge fund guys hang out?
- How you decide marriage vs. just a girlfriend? I am looking for MARRIAGE ONLY
Please hold your insults - I'm putting myself out there in an honest way.
Most beautiful women are superficial; at least I'm being up front about it.
I wouldn't be searching for these kind of guys if I wasn't able to match them - in looks, culture, sophistication, and keeping a nice home and hearth.

THE ANSWER
Dear Pers-431649184:
I read your posting with great interest and have thought meaningfully about your dilemma. I offer the following analysis of your predicament.
Firstly, I'm not wasting your time, I qualify as a guy who fits your bill; that is I make more than $500K per year. That said here's how I see it.
Your offer, from the prospective of a guy like me, is plain and simple a crappy business deal. Here's why. Cutting through all the B.S., what you suggest is a simple trade: you bring your looks to the party and I bring my money. Fine, simple. But here's the rub, your looks will fade and my money will likely continue into perpetuity...in fact, it is very likely that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won't be getting any more beautiful!
So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning asset. Not only are you a depreciating asset, your depreciation accelerates!
Let me explain, you're 25 now and will likely stay pretty hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you!
So in Wall Street terms, we would call you a trading position, not a buy and hold...hence the rub...marriage. It doesn't make good business sense to "buy you" (which is what you're asking) so I'd rather lease. In case you think I'm being cruel, I would say the following. If my money were to go away, so would you, so when your beauty fades I need an out. It's as simple as that.
So a deal that makes sense is dating, not marriage.
Separately, I was taught early in my career about efficient markets. So, I wonder why a girl as "articulate, classy and spectacularly beautiful"
as you has been unable to find your sugar daddy. I find it hard to believe that if you are as gorgeous as you say you are that the $500K hasn't found you, if not only for a tryout.
By the way, you could always find a way to make your own money and then we wouldn't need to have this difficult conversation.
With all that said, I must say you're going about it the right way. Classic "pump and dump." I hope this is helpful, and if you want to enter into some sort of lease, let me know.
WTF is the biggest insect?
There are several different ways of measuring the size of an insect, most people would consider the largest insect to be the bulkiest and in this case the champion insect is the Acteaeom Beetle from South America. The male beetles can be 9cms long by 5cms wide by 4cms thick...that's one bulky bug!

dorm windows being shot out a set of cryptic symbols were found spray painted throughout the campus with the date “10/23/07” underneath it. Rumors began to spread on the University’s campus that another shooting was coming on Tuesday (10/23/07). The campus police were swamped with phone calls and questions about the impending violence. Fortunately, the graffiti symbols popping up all over campus were to promote Coheed & Cambria’s release of their latest album No World For Tomorrow. The police eventually ruled out anything else as pure coincidence. Keyword Analysis

MEDIAFORGE presents the NuVid Player
NEW TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS FOR COMBINATION OF VIDEOS FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES INTO ONE ALL-NEW WIDGET PLAYER
The NuVid Player also makes for easy management of playlists by allowing the addition of new videos, the ability to change the playlist order, and even the option to change the player's skin right from within the application without ever having to change the embed codes.
Another exclusive feature of the NuVid Player is the "copy video to your player" option, better known as the HiJack feature. When a video is active in another user's player, a person can click "HIJACK THIS" which will prompt for login information, and then will put the video into the user's player without ever having to change the embed codes.
The NuVid Player also allows for the ability to "subscribe" to someone else's video playlist so when their player is changed, it automatically updates the subscriber's player too. By embedding the player of a user's favorite band or friend, the same player will automatically change to match every time a change is made. By allowing the ability for users to embed others' players, it creates a platform that turns users into internet video VJs.
"The NuVid player is a great tool for independent artists such as me, who need to reach out to a broader fanbase virally. My fans love the player and so do I. It's really easy to update and to embed," says artist Linda Strawberry.
With 25,000+ users already signed on--including artists The Smashing Pumpkins, Bo Bice, and Papa Roach--along with the ability to manage the user's profile from anywhere, the NuVid Player is sweeping the way internet video is exchanged. "We wanted to make it easy for people to consolidate and organize their videos on their web pages," says MediaForge CEO Tony Zito, "it provides exponential results with user interaction and state of the art interaction for their chosen online destinations."

ALTER BRIDGE ROLLS A LUCKY #13
WITH UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC DEBUT BLACKBIRD
The soaring foursome’s much buzzed about opening is even more eye-popping when you consider they edged out legendary rockers like Eric Clapton and gritty icons Puddle Of Mud. Alter Bridge is celebrating the hearty welcome from rock fans in reciprocal fashion – bringing their searing brand of hard rock live to concertgoers across the U.S. on one of the fall’s most talked about tours. The former Creed members – Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips, and Brian Marshall, joined by riveting vocalist Myles Kennedy – round out Alter Bridge and are winning over critics with the same power and bombast that enlivens the songs from their sophomore album Blackbird .
“One of the greatest things to happen to hard rock since David Lee Roth joined Van Halen” raved Metal Edge. Joined by fellow Universal Republic rockers Another Animal, (comprised of members of Godsmack), the tour (which runs though December) has become one of the most eagerly tracked rock two-lanes on the internet, igniting rock networking sites with set-list chatter and after-show critiques from fans of the two rock bands that have set myspace sites aglow.
For Alter Bridge, Blackbird is an imposing follow-up to their Gold-plus album debut One Day Remains . Advancing the themes of that critically acclaimed effort, but with an even more ominous edge, the album has become a mainstay of modern rock charts and digital platforms, and includes fan-favorites such as their #1 most-added kick-off single “Rise Today,” “Break Me Down,” and “ Ties That Bind,” among others.

I gotta say, it sounded way better than I expected. Rob uses a lot of loops and layers in his music and I wasn't sure how it would translate live, or even in a live recording. But dead on. No disappointments here! A great live album.
What are you waiting for? It hit record stores today! Go get it!Rob Zombie Halloween Game
In the cinema: Resident Evil: Extinction
I don't want to tell too much about the story of the movie, but here's the gist: The zombie virus spun out of control all over the world decimating the entire population. What few survivors there are keep on the move to avoid the masses of the undead. The Umbrella Corporation is still up to it's evil handy work. Everyone's plans require Alice, played by the unbelievable sexy Milla Jovovich, to get things done. And somehow she does get it all done. The end is sudden, but good, left with a huge opening for the next film. I have no doubt there will be a part four with a delicious army of Milla's trying to make things right after the wrongs of the company. I can't wait for that one!
Back to the present. It was a fun zombie movie. Some good gore, and some great action. Not the best movie, however, but still fun. It will translate well to the small screen if you opt for the DVD release.

On CD: Elect the Dead by Serj Tankian
I finally figured out how to take this record for a listen. Long story that I will spare you, but I'm glad I did.If at first you get the feeling, "Hey! This is System of a Down!" You wouldn't be far off, as Serj is the singer of System. This is a solo project, and you can hear what Serj is capable of when he spreads his creative wings. That was when I realized this is more than what System ever put out.
Here's the tracklist:

- Feed Us
- Saving Us
- Sky Is Over
- Baby
- Honking Antelope
