What time does the solar eclipse start on july 22 2009? From HEREAs I write this, it's less than 3 hours before the eclipse begins.
The eclipse begins at 2305 GMT Tuesday night (7:05 PM New York, 4:05 PM California), which is when the sun rises in India.
The path sweeps over India, Bangla Desh, Bhutan, China, goes offshore after crossing Shanghai, then past the southern tip of Japan, over Iwo Jima, into the southern Pacific.
It ends at sunset in the south Pacific, at 0515 Wednesday morning GMT, (1:15 AM New York, 10:15 PM Tuesday night in California).
No part of the eclipse is visible in the USA. Not even Hawaii.
A good place to hunt information is: http://www.exploratorium.edu/eclipse/index.html
That will also lead you to live webcam shots from places where the eclipse IS visible.
