REVIEW TUESDAY: In the cinema - The Expendables

The ExpendablesCalled "the manliest movie in the country" The Expendables opened last Friday to the #1 spot. My money was among the dollar helping it take that spot.

The cast was SUPPOSED to be an ensemble of washed up 80s action heroes. But it seemed that they had to rewrite that concept as there were some hold-outs and some who could only do cameos. So you end up with a team of big dudes from movies over the last 30 years.

The plot, a team of mercenaries are hired to take down the military leader of a banana republic therein shutting down a cocaine line.

It's 1 3/4 hours of pure testosterone. That means that you must take it for what it is. Mindless pure entertainment with lots of explosions and bullets. The cast works well together. The good guys are really good. The bad guys are really bad. And it's a lot of fun. I recommend this movie if you need to watch a movie of guys getting blown apart and transformed into sprays of blood. Oh, and Dolph Lungdren's face will turn your stomach. He's grosser than Mickey Rourke!

Did I say a lot of fun? No, I meant A LOT OF FUN! Worth seeing on the big screen so the splatters are larger than life!
