Meanwhile frontman Corey Taylor contends, "It was one of those songs that I didn't really feel until it was finished... I enjoyed the lyrics but I wasn't sure about the music. I'd come in and I'd sang it, and I put my heart into it because the lyrics are about my wife and how I feel about my wife, and then I left. And I came back and [the band] had just made it incredible. Now I can't get it out of my head."

On CD: In Your Mouth by Mama's Dirty Little Secret

When I got the CD IN YOUR MOUTH by MAMA'S DIRTY LITTLE SECRET I just felt compelled to listen to it immediately.

The band is described thusly:
  • The power trio that is Mama's Dirty Lil' Secret delivers a musical punch that can only be described as the sonic love child born of the torrid love affair between Soul and Punk. With big soulful choruses, catchy riffs, booming bass and thunder grooves, you will catch the Mama's Dirty Lil' Secret spirit and cut loose and rock. Influence: Prince, Kiss, Van Halen, Neil Sedaka, '80s Hair Metal.

The album consists nine well crafted punk rock tracks. The production is good, but a little trebly, but that's to be expected this type of music. To me, it had a Dead Kennedys feel to it. All the instruments are well played, and I was shocked to find that a trio puts out such strong music. The vocals are beautiful and smooth, almost to the point you're shocked that he's not in pop music.

I'd call this a thoroughly enjoyable album and certainly worth your time to listen to it.

Connect to Mama's Dirty Little Secret:

In the cinema: Predators (2010)

PredatorsI've been a fan of Predator since the 80s, so I needed to see this new flick!

Here's the concept: a collection of very dangerous people from across the Earth are gathered and dropped on a strange planet where they are hunted by a team of Predators. The movie chronicles the chase as the humans AND Predators are taken down one by one.

The movie is a science fiction flick with deep horror overtones. If you like the Freddy or Jason movies this has all teh same dark stalking qualities that make you jump out of your chair. Meanwhile it's got the big guns, assorted weapons and explosions for the lover of action flicks. Put it all together and it's a lot of fun! And, despite Adrian Brody being the lead, extremely watchable. In fact, the entire cast works VERY well in their roles. Brody plays Royce, a mercenary with a flair for leading. He's pretty much in the Schwarzenegger role from the original, down to the new diesel physique and the mud bath for the final showdown.

It only came in #10 last weekend in ticket sales and has grossed less than $50 million so it will be gone from theaters pretty soon. But I can't wait for the DVD release which is bound to have all sortrs of extras.

In Print: The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams

The Restaurant at the End of the Universe: Complete & Unabridged (Word for Word)Next up in the five book trilogy of the Hitchhiker's Guide is The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. It picks up right at the moment that the first book ended and continues with your favorite characters through more strange adventures across the universe.

What starts off as a journey to find something to eat turns into a disappointing quest for the true ruler of the universe. Eventually they finally DO get to The Restaurant at the End of the Universe for the spectacular show that the end can only bring. Then they steal a spaceship with a date with a sun and ends up with your favorite characters scattered in space and time.

The book is more of the same humor from the first book. So if that's your thing, you'll like this time. I did. I had several good belly laughs at some of the jokes and Marvin the Paranoid Android became my favorite character. I was unhappy how they left him, but maybe he'll show up again. Somehow.

Fun to read sci-fi, give it a shot!
