Review Tuesday: PAY THE DEVIL by Jack Higgins

This week I have the book PAY THE DEVIL by Jack Higgins.

When Confederate Colonel Clay Fitzgerald decides to visit family lands in Ireland after the American Civil War, he finds dissent brewing there as well.

This is a pretty simple story with very likable heroes and egregiously evil villains. Higgins wrote it so you, usually, knew right away who is worth caring about. Fantastic character development. The landscape of rural Ireland is portrayed wonderfully. You feel like you're watching this on a screen instead of reading it all, as the scene is so expertly described, yet never being tedious.

A delightful tale and a quick read!
