THE TICK
S01 E01-06
An accountant named Arthur becomes consumed with The Terror, the man who killed his father and his favorite superheroes. His obsession causes him to cross paths with his destiny and a strange superhero called THE TICK.
The  pilot episode of THE TICK came out a year ago. There was very little news ever since thAT episode went live. I loved that episode (Previous review HERE) but my hopes were quickly disappearing. After first seeing the animated series on FOX decades ago, and buying all the the issues I could find, only to have that poor imitation come out on ABC earlier in this century, I didn't think this franchise would ever see the light of day ever again.

THANK GOODNESS I WAS WRONG!

Only a couple weeks ago Amazon started teasing new episodes that looked amazing! So last Friday five new 25-minute episodes were released and I binge-watched them that night.

The show might be called THE TICK, but these five episodes have really focused on Arthur, his growth as a human being, as a functional adult, and, ultimately into a superhero.

The show is SO PERFECT. It's like a wonderful gift that I've been waiting for for decades. It's still goofy, but it's also darker and more harsh. It's more along the lines of the comics books from way back when. It's not kid stuff! Beware! Violence and strong language!

While The Tick and Arthur don't looks exactly like their animated counterparts, the excellent writing and the fine acting of Peter Serafinowicz as The Tick and Griffin Newman as Arthur Everest remove any doubt that this series is as astounding as Ben Edlund's original vision.

I can't say anything more than YOU MUST WATCH THIS!
