Review Tuesday: CHILD'S PLAY (1988)

CHILD'S PLAY

A possessed doll goes on a murder spree.

After having the reboot fresh in our minds, Mrs Baxojayz insisted we revisit the original CHILD'S PLAY from 1988. 

As you can imagine, this was a very different story. In this one, a serial killer uses Santa Ria to pass what was left of his own life force into the only thing convenient, a creep-ass doll. Once the cat is out of the bag, Chucky is out for revenge and will allow no one to stand in his way. 

The special effects and gore were surprisingly good got the day and age. Despite that, the hour and a half run time seemed to take forever. Maybe it was the character development and the strange mystery tied within the story that dragged. Or maybe it was just my impatience children as lead roles in movies coupled with the horror-doll concept. Both are main reasonas why I avoid a bunch of movies.  

  

If you want to see what people were so enamored with, the movie that spawned the CHILD'S PLAY franchise, this might be worth your while. However, in this day and age, I liked the plot of the new one better.
