A little history lesson. Richard Patrick started off his musical career as a guitarist for NIN when they performed live. When he approached Trent Reznor with some songs he was told that he wasn't interested. So Richard split off and formed FILTER.

In case Richard looks somewhat familiar, his brother is actor Robert Patrick, who played the shape shifting Terminator in T2. He also ended up on the television series, THE X-FILES.
