The Outsider
by Stephen King
When a man accused of a horrific murder appears to be at another place at the exact same time, the solution may lie within the impossible.
I while back I read the book IF IT BLEEDS (reviewed HERE) and ever since I wanted to go back and read the story of The Outsider that was referred to in the story. So I FINALLY got around to it!
This is a long story. We all know that King can be quite good at that with books of his like IT, etc, but this one isn't quite that thick. It starts off in a small fictional southern town. The local sports hero, a coach, was arrested in front of an entire field of spectators during a crucial game. He's being accused of a vicious and violent murder. All the evidence points to him. Seems like an open and shut case?
Right?
WRONG!
He happens to have an iron-clad alibi with several witnesses and even film footage to prove he was in another town while the murder was being committed.
Defying all logic, the pursuit of truth in this case ended up in a lot of cooperation and a lot of other dead bodies.
For the most part, I would call this book good. The entire thing seemed to drag on at points and there was never a proper explanation regarding WHAT the Outsider actually was. That aside, I am pleased I finally got around to reading it.
