Review Tuesday: All Hallows' Eve (2013)

While I was working on the reviews for For Terrifier and Terrifier 2 I noticed another related movie, so I watched it really quick to get the reviews out at the same time...

Watch All Hallows' Eve | Prime Video
All Hallows' Eve
(2013)
Trick-or-Treaters and their baby-sitter watch a VHS tape given as a Halloween treat and finds that it contains what appears to be violent crimes with a psychopathic clown involved in some way.
Found footage? Violent crimes on a VHS tape? Sociopathic clowns? None of these are new or even original. But put them all together and polish it up, and you have ALL HALLOW'S EVE.

I suppose this is a prequel, of sorts, for the Terrifier films. Art the Clown is very present but he's not as "evolved" or rather, at frightening at first glance. But everything goes wild pretty fast. They find a VHS tape in with their Halloween loot and decide to watch it. The first sequence is about women getting abducted for Satan's harem. The second sequence is about alien abduction. It's funny how they chisel Art into that one. And the last one id just Art on a killing spree.

The truly disturbing aspect of this film is the way the taboos are ignored. Rape by the Devil. Alien Abduction. Cannibalism. Child killing. Mutilations. It's all in there. I am not sure if it's the content that's disturbing, or the fact that a "normal" mind could create such a thing. This movie definitely leaves the realm of horror and moves firmly into the cubby-hole of gore-porn.

Having watched these three movies, I definitely feel like THIS movie was way better than Terrfier 2. It's a solid, slasher, gore-fest horror movie. There are definitely some disturbing scenes and extreme violence and some taboos broken. Definitely NOT for the weak of heart. If all this sounds like your kinda thing, then, by all means, give this a shot.
