Review Tuesday: HIGHLANDER (1986)

Immortals fight to the death for the quickening.

I didn't mean to review this movie this week, but since the 38th anniversary of this movie was last week and I, surprisingly, only got to see this movie in its entirety very recent;y I figured this was the perfect time to jot down my thoughts. 

 

Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) learns that he is an immortal and is trained by another immortal named Ramirez (Sean Connery).  Connor would like to live a normal life like any common mortal, but has to worry about barbaric immortal named Kurgan (Clancy Brown) who hunts and kills other immortals for their power, the quickening. 

 

The movie is a bit crude, the acting is a bit corny, the script is a bit predictable. The scenery is outstanding and the human drama is compelling. Despite the shortcomings this is still a perfect example of fun 80s sci-fi. I am glad I finally got to see this movie, and even more glad that I got to see it at this point in my life. Well worth your time to watch!
