Review Tuesday: The Peripheral - Season 1 (2022)

The Peripheral

The Peripheral
Season 1
(2022)
In the future a group of friends use virtual reality to time travel.
This is another "friend" series. She seemed to know quite a lot about it. That the show was filmed during quarantine and due to the crazy world at the time it wasn't picked up for a second season.

Here's the idea. A woman, her brother, and his Army buddies seem to be some sort of hackers / testers. They were invited to test out some new VR setup that seemed impossibly realistic. As it turns out, that's because it IS real. They are transferred into the future and control a Peripheral. Imagine Avatar, but it's humans jumping into other humans in a dystopia.

The show is kinda interesting, but moves slowly. A large part of what keeps you dialed in is the huge amount of screentime that Chloe Grace Moretz gets. She's very pretty and the camera loves her, so logically she gets a load of screentime. The funny part is how her southern drawl comes and goes but she's so pretty you almost don't notice it.

Is it worth watching? Meh, it's okay. It's okay. Not bad, not great.
