Review Tuesday: WALL-E (2008)

WALL-E
2008
A clean-up droid on Earth falls in love with a probe droid.
That friend was telling me about WALL-E. When I told her that I had never watched it she had to change that ASAP. In the year 2805 the Earth is a deserted and uninhabitable. A single, solitary, and lonely cleaning robot named WALL-E is cleaning up the landscape in an attempt to prepare the planet for humanity's return.

This is a good old-fashioned Disney animated film. It's action, adventure, friendship, romance, and ties up in the end with a happy ending. You know, the way Disney USED to make films. Stories that make you feel good and are appropriate for the entire family. There is a mild plot thread about how we should be more concerned with what's going on around us and less consumed with never-ending thoughtless consumerism. Like I said, that's on the back-burner.

What the real plot is all about is friendship and finding the one who really gets you. The entire process between WALL-E and EVE becoming friends, then learning about each-other, then developing an attachment to each-other is lovely without it being too corny.

This was a delight to watch, a film based in the traditional Disney values.
