The Sound of Music
(1965)
A fledgling nun is placed as a governess for family with problems with unexpected results.
I have secretly wanted to go back and watch ALL of those old movies deemed classics. Recently while discussing this topic with my best friend that I mentioned that I had never seen THE SOUND OF MUSIC. She insisted on fixing that straight-away!

Set in Pre-WWII Austria, Maria (Julie Andrews) is a postulant (I had to look up that word, it's a candidate to become a nun) who is having a hard time adapting to that lifestyle. She's sent to the von Trapp family who needs a Governess for the unruly children. Her unorthodox methods of dealing with the children allows them to blossom and be happy, while defrosting the frozen heart of the widower/father Captain Georg von Trapp (Christopher Plummer). As you can imagine, this turns into a love-story, then a great escape.

The story is simple. There's lots of music and singing and dancing. It's just an overall perfectly charming film. There IS a reason why these are the classics. I thoroughly enjoyed this. I would highly recommend that anyone should watch this.
