promulgate \PROM-uhl-geyt, proh-MUHL-geyt\, verb:

to make known by open declaration; publish; proclaim formally or put into operation (a law, decree of a court, etc.).
to set forth or teach publicly (a creed, doctrine, etc.).

Promulgate comes from the Latin promulgare meaning "make publicly known." It entered English in the 1500s.

boyfriend drop

Subtly adding the fact that you have a boyfriend into the conversation in order to deter anyone who is potentially interested. The first time this happens is the boyfriend drop. Also can be used in describing this event by the other person who was interested. Related to girlfriend drop.
