What? Two James Bond reviews in one day? Well, I've been back-logged and I didn't want to sit on these too long. So two in one day!
When a British Bomber turns up missing along with it's cargo of two atomic bombs and a ransom note from crime organization SPECTRE appears in the UK and the US, James Bond and CIA Agent Felix Leiter are sent to the Bahamas to nose around as part of Operation Thunderball.
What I like about these books is that James Bond really isn't superhuman. He's a regular guy, uses his gut, his backbone, and brain to reason things out and get things done. And he doesn't walk out of these things unscathed either. He takes some serious lumps by the end of the book. This was a fun story made much more interesting by the imaginative underwater battle in the climax. A charming, detail-oriented, story!
