Review Tuesday: Project Regeneration Volume 2 by Static-X

Project: Regeneration
Volume 2
Static-X
The SECOND Static-X album to come out after the death of Wayne Static.
I remember preparing for a wedding on November 1st, 2014 and hearing the news that Wayne Static had died. I remember thinking overdose and then thinking no chance for a Static-X reunion now. Ten years, and several tours later Static-X just put out their SECOND Post-Wayne Album.

So you have the original line-up: Tony Campos on bass, Koichi Fukuda playing guitars, Ken Jay behind the drum kit and vocals by Wayne and Xer0. Xer0 also produced the record which was mixed/mastered by Ulrich Wild. All very familiar names for fans.

Apparently there was a bunch of Wayne and Static-X material socked away and didn't get used over the years. So far they have been able to produce all that material into two extended length albums. This latest album is pretty good but I might be biased, being a longtime fan of the band. I must admit, before the break-up of the band, I wasn't thrilled with the work they were putting out. Wayne's solo record was a bit better, but without Tony, it just seemed like unpolished Static-X. These works, however, feel like "traditional" Static-X music and instantly likeable.

Since the death of Wayne and the band getting back together, it's been no secret that the band has had plenty to say about his life of excess and abuse. Naturally the first track and single would be STAY ALIVE. Good song. I would say, generally, this is a good album. It's smooth, polished, very likeable, and what fans would expect from Static-X.

In an aside, the band seems to be touring all the time again and I think we are supposed to see a documentary about the rise and fall of Wayne Static.
